Short blurb on Mobile Photo editing and a Sample of mobile work.

Lately, society has shown a trend of using their mobile devices as their main source of computing and internet.  I love my desktop computer and the power that is behind it, but recently I have also been leaning heavier on using my Android device to do more.

I am an artist and a photographer and like many people, I am always on the go.  Quite often it isn't convenient for me to access my Canon DSLR or my desktop computer.  over the past couple of years I have been taking a lot more photos with my cell phone than I do with my DSLR camera.  I have also began adapting to more mobile means of editing these photos as well.  I use an Android device and I use the Samsung's Galaxy Note series.

The first app that I consider a "must have" for editing on the go is Snapseed.  The app was originally created by Nik Software. Nik was known for making amazing and powerful Photoshop plugins. Snapseed is currently owned by Google.  I feel it holds many of the best photoshop features with the incredibly user friendliness of your favorite iOS apps. It is a true competitor in the mobile photo editing market. Best of all, it's free! When I begin editing any photo on my phone, the first app I open is Snapseed. Most commonly I use it for touch ups and minor color adjustments, but if that isn't your thing they also offer filters, borders and many other internet favorites features.

There is no special order or apps to be used for photo creations and digital art.  The options are endless and depend on which creative direction you are taking. With that in mind, this short little blurb could quickly turn into a 10 page nightmare.  Therefore I will reserve my reviews for other digital manipulation apps for future posts.

If you enjoyed this or any of my other posts, feel free to follow me. If you have something you want to say or want to see more just let me know down in the comments section below.

First Throwback Thursday

I have seen a lot of people post an old pictures or content on Thursdays and call it "Throwback Thursday."  I usually do not participate in this, until now.  I recently came across a picture of myself in my early teen years and thought, this would be neat to post.  Naturally, the best way to post such an image would be as a "Throwback  Thursday" item.  I uploaded the image to Instagram.  Instagram is where I post most of my images. You can find me on Instagram under the Username ThomasHuntJr or just go to this address,  https://www.instagram.com/thomashuntjr/

I do not know how often I will do this, but stay tuned and you might be surprised.

Saint Patrick's Day 2016

I am well aware I am not in Ireland and have no cultural reasons to celebrate this holiday, but I'm American and won't turn down a reason to go out, drink and celebrate something.  Especially something that brings such wild festivities as this holiday.(at least as its celebrated in the U.S.)

This year I went to, what Oklahoma City calls, a block party.  This event was located in Bricktown, near downtown Oklahoma City for those of you don't know.  They sectioned off a fairly large parking lot and filled it with a stage, beer vendors and a variety of food trucks.  Of course several of these vendors provided green beer(their cheapest beer drowned in green food coloring).  I didn't catch the name of the band that was playing on stage, but they played pretty good background music.  I choked down 1 glass of the green swill they called beer.

Surprisingly I enjoyed the food I ordered from the food truck. The name of the food Truck was PhillMeUp Cheesesteaks and you can find them on Twitter at @PhillMeUpOKC  As their name suggests, they make Philly Cheesesteaks.  The first thing that makes their cheesesteaks unique is they use Cheese Whiz.  That's right, cheese whiz, the spray cheese out of a can.  I was quite hesitant to order something that used spray can cheese, but I am will try almost anything at least once.  The cheese happened to mesh beautifully with the perfectly caramelized onions and the quality of that beautiful ribeye meat was magnificent.  This was undoubtedly the highlight of my day.  And although a little pricey, this sandwich tasted awesome and was quite filling.

The rest of the sights were as one would imagine, the area cluttered with stumbling idiots decked out in kilts and various green apparel and accessories. Of course, I was not going to leave the area without taking at least one photo of my adventure..

Day of Beaches 2014

Oddly enough this video was put together as part of Google Photos.  It is from a day that I decided to to visit beaches from San Diego to Malibu. I had meant to edit the footage and release it sooner in a multi video series.  I never got around to it. This really seemed like a good way to release it.

~Thank you

The Lotto: Skeptical and Curious

Today, we had the drawing for the 1.5 billion dollar Powerball.  The Powerball website, as I'm typing this, states there are 3 announced winners so far, in 3 different states.  One of these locations is Chino, CA.  This area happens to be around where YouTube Entertainer Rich Ferguson lives.  https://youtu.be/XZ_eoWJD1wY
Here Rich Ferguson posts a video on his YouTube channel stating he is the California winner of the Powerball.  This video leaves me both skeptical and curious.
Naturally, I'm skeptical.  He is a magician and a mentalist.  I have been subscribed to his YouTube channel long enough to know he enjoys messing with people. He also loves social experiments.  I've read comments on his Facebook page calling it all a fake.  That sounds negative.  My skepticism is not negative, it actually leads to curiosity.  If it is one of his tricks, I am insanely curious and eager to see what he is up to.  If it is real and legit, then I am still quite curious.  Rich Ferguson has proven be amazing at what he does and very generous and charitable.  Winning the Powerball would give this man a super budget to do bigger and more amazing stunts.  I am unable fathom what he would do with this much money as far as charity goes.

Either way, I will eagerly await more videos and hope for the best.

And Then?

Well, my website has been down for the last year. This was all due to an error with GoDaddy, that lead to my site being deleted from their servers.  A lot has changed in the past year and kept me busy enough not to get my website back up and running.  I have moved to Oklahoma City. It was quite a big move and left things rocky for a bit. I have now found stability.  I have been at my new job for over a year and have a roof over my head. I have a place for my computer and a solid interent connection. So, I took the time to do yet another redesign of my website.  It is nothing flashy.  I kept it a simple and straight forward photo gallery of my work as a photographer.  My latest personal work was an Oklahoma Bedlam theme, for the Holidays.  The work is, as I'm typing this, on the front page of my website www.ThomasHuntJr.com  For those that stumble across this blog, I encourage you to visit the page and let me know what you think.  It is time for me to head off to my job. Until, next time.... Take it easy.

Confederate Flag

Ignorance is not always bliss. Sometimes it is loud and annoying and all you really want at that point is some chloroform and a sharpee.

Honestly, I am just annoyed by the news and my facebook feed flooded by people wishing to argue and nit pick and just go on and on about something as if it were religion or politics. So let me break this down as simple as I can:

First, if we ban everything that offends someone, there will be nothing left.

Second, let us skip past the 101 opinions and personal meanings applied to the confederate flag. Actual, original meaning of the Confederate flag is as follows
1) 13 Stars= original 13 colonies
2)Red=Valor
3)Blue = Justice
4)White= Purity
5)X= OUT, as in the south wanted out.
That's it boys and girls nothing more, nothing less.

Third, Now Historically, Personal, Implied, etc.. well there is an infinite amount of percieved meanings behind it and any other symbol really.... and people are free to voice those views... who cares.

Fourth, the banning that is happening is in stores, specific businesses, they cater to the ignorant... it's smart business, do what brings in the most money. Im sure their decision involved some financial math that I'm too lazy to do, but it still added up to smaller loss of profits or higher or whatever numbers made them happy. And when all the buzz has died down, I'm sure it will appear on shelves again.

In conclusion it ultimately doesnt matter, we all like or hate different things, and I guarantee there are plenty of places to purchase the flag online and probably for a better price than Walmart or Target can offer. If you're posting just to vent that you are mad at the stores doing it, that's fine. You do you, vent all you want, scream it to the skies and.... Welcome to America.

That being said, if we could just take a deep breath inhale the chloroform and relax, that would be awesome.  Honestly I'm tired of my news feeds looking like the following string of text:
Grrr
Confederate flag
Offended
hate
ban
love
like
this flag
that flag
your flag
my flag
your face
my face
your nose
my nose
WAIT!......who farted?

Complete Update and OverHaul

With a new direction I have decided to focus on my photography and design. I have completely redesigned my website reflect that change and hopefully gain some business with my photography.

I have also purchased new studio equipment. I now own: 3 soft box lights, 3 umbrella lights. 1 flash w/flash stand. and 3 backdrops(black, white, and green).

Yes, that's right, a green backdrop! Now I am capable of doing green screen special effects for photos and videos.  Of course I picked up a quality camera to handle this, the Canon Rebel T4i.

Of course, what would I do with all this without a beast of a computer to take on the work load.  I took the time to research and choose the parts to put together a brand new computer.
     Dual monitors
GTX660ti Video Card (if you don't know what it is, just know, IT'S AWESOME)
     16GB of Ram
A 1TB hard drive with an additional external 1TB hard drive.
     3rd Gen 3.4 GHz i7 intel processor
Of course I will always choose a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse set.
And an always reliable Asus motherboard.
The rest of the features are pretty standard a DVD burner drive. Hopefully I will add a bluray burner drive. And of course, I feel my new case looks pretty slick and it is really rugged and durable. It needs to be for when I get mad and kick it. jk. I love my new machine.

On a side note I also recently picked up the Samsung Galaxy S4. I didn't expect to receive this phone but after a few mistakes due to U.S. Cellular and an unhappy customer(me) They decided I deserved this dream machine of a phone. I have fallen in love with this device.

With all this new equipment, the skills I have shown in the past are really flourishing.  I also brought a few of my video ideas to life and started uploading to YouTube and those videos can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/thomashuntjr.
I can also be found on:

Feel free to follow my work on any of those sites or just come back and read more updates on my blog.
Life is pretty sweet right now and I would love to see more followers on these sites of people that appreciate and like my work. :)

Progress

A couple weeks into another semester at OSU. Surviving the new apartment and living by myself. Actually attempting to turn part of the apartment into a studio space. Started adding weekly videos to YouTube. If you get the chance you should check us out 4AMStudiosVideos on YouTube. Or if you just feel like watch the random not so weekly videos I post on my channel ThomasHuntjr.
I obtained a car, 1997 Honda Accord. Definitely excited about that, allowing me a lot more freedom.
If you are lucky I might pussy some of my art work this semester. Well that is all I have for now, so until next time...

10 Month Paragraph

If you didn't notice, it has been 10 months since my last entry. Where to begin... ok. Last Fall I decided to go back to college. This time attending OSU.  It was a crazy semester and it was a struggle. My job was kind of fun I got to watch as the Oklahoma State Cowboy Football program had an awesome year.  December came along and I made a switch in room mates. The end of January I entered into a new relationship.  Well long story short room mate didn't work out and neither did the girlfriend. Now I am living in a new place and attempting to live by myself.  I decided to update my website a little bit.  I am going to just use blogger.com for my blogs, it's alot easier to make posts or avoid spam in the comments section.  Today I should be adding some more pictures. Well as many as I can salvage considering I recently had my drive of pictures crash with no backups.  I will also post pictures of a few some cars I got to see at Yale's 2nd Annual Sizzlin Summer Cruz N Car Show.  And hopefully I will be able to do some updates to 4AMStudios.com within the next few days.

Buried in Fall Leaves

We are several weeks into the new fall semester.  I have finished my first project for my 3D foundations class. I put on the final coat of paint on a Low relief piece I was working on. My drawing I class, well just 6 hours a week of drawing still life. I might actually gain some skill at it by the end of the semester. My other 2 classes are just a massive amount of reading about asian art and the islamic religion.  Definitely takes up alot of my time outside of the classroom.
In addition to my academic ventures, I still have to contend with my 40 plus hour a week job. Usually wouldn't be so bad but it is the athletics department and they are quite demanding, especially during football season.  Sporting events during the fall semester are where plus part stacks my work week over 40 hours.
To top everything off, I am making attempts to be more active in campus events.  My first step is joining 2 groups on campus, and both of those group meetings start next week.  The Non Traditional Student Organization begins 12:30 Tuesday. They were also kind enough type up the meeting agenda, should be interesting. The second group is the OSU Photography Club and those meetings start at 7 on Wednesday.  I do not know what to expect from the photography club.  I am a little nervous because of the variety of skill level or experience I will come across.  I am also really excited because I will be around a group of people with the same interest as myself.
No matter how I feel about each of things individually, one thing is for sure, my schedule is full.  Some weeks my schedule will be overflowing.  All of this is a little overwhelming for me, but I will survive the semester.... just with a little less hair.

The Blogger Transfer

I just got done transferring all of the blogs from my personal website to blogger.com.  I will make sure all of my blogs are available on both blogger.com and ThomasHuntJr.com.  Also I received an invite to Google+, we shall see how fast everyone obtains an account on the newest social website.
Update about my ankle; I am still wearing the boot, but I have stopped using the crutches. Still alot of pain but definite improvements, a return to work is most definitely eminent.
Hopefully there will be an update on 4AMStudios.com by the end of next week.  We are working on a skit, I would love to talk about it but I will not ruin it for anyone.

Summer, Videos and the Broken Ankle

WOW! 6 months between updates! What on earth has this guy been doing? Oh yeah that's me. So crazy year thus far. I no longer live in the butt crack of oklahoma(Yale). I have moved back to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Summer started well, spent some time at the lake, moved into the new apartment and broke my ankle. Wait, wha? Yeah that's right broken ankle. I fractured a bone in my ankle an pulled a ligament between my tibia and fibia. OUCH! Leaves me with crutches and frankstein like boot with velcro. How did I break this.... kinky... no, just kidding. I was playing softball and slid into a base. At least my team won... I think.. They might have just told me that to make me feel better while I was in the emergency room.

Hmmm what else? Ok, I had taken a couple years off from school and now I have enrolled to return. Not to NOC, nope I am officially Transferred over to OSU(Oklahoma State University). I have declared Graphic Design as my major and enrolled for classes during Fall 2011. I am taking a religion class, an asian art class, a drawing class and 3D Foundations Studio Class. FUN! eh, we shall see.

Last but not least I have done a little something creative. Ok, not so much creative but I needed to find something to entertain myself. My friend Thom and I find it funny to challenge people to stupid stuff and record them doing it. We have decided to call this series Challenge Accepted. You can find the Challenge Accepted #2 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZtAe_aAngM&feature=related . well that is all for today check out our videos!

Merry Belated Christmas

Well Christmas 2010 has come and past. The only gifts I bought were all for my son. It has been a tough year. I have a feeling it has been for most of the U.S. I managed Christmas for my son and that is what matters. On Christmas Day my roommate's mother cooked a holiday meal. I have to say it was a delicious meal. I stuffed myself, watched some holiday programing on television and went to bed. The holiday programing I watched was a show counting down the top TV Show Christmas moments, very funny. I spent the day before and the day after christmas with my son. Quite enjoyable, but every moment with my son is.
I have taken the time to add more to my site. I added about 4 more images to the digital art. The photography section received the largest update, I strongly suggest checking it out. Overall it has been fun. Now, I'm off to figure out how to add a mailing list/news letter to my websites.

Site Update/Weekend in Houston

I feel as if I allowed my own website to gather some digital dust. After glancing through the comments section I definitely had some cleaning up to do. Spammers... ugh, very annoying. My comments file is usually less than 1mb but with the help of spammers it grew to 500mb. Oh well, it is fixed for now. So I decided to do a little digital spring cleaning after I received an email from a recent visitor. Within the next week I plan on sorting through my digital art to update the collection online. I will also seek out any new photography albums I may have in my archive. Im sure I will have plenty of new stuff to post, it has been a busy couple of years since my last update.
So this past week I had the luxury of taking a roadtrip. This is good because I haven't gotten away to do much of anything in awhile and roadtrips to places I have never been are always fun. This weekend the road took me all the way to Houston, TX(8 hour drive). What takes me to Houston? Well my friend John was a groomsmen in his friend Robert's wedding. Naturally being the good friend I am, I took the initiative and got him there. I can't say much for the ceremony, Im not a religous person, but the reception was a blast; good food, good drink, great company and dancing galore! It isn't likely anyone I met that weekend will be reading this but if you are "Thanks for a the hospitality and a greate weekend!"

The Collision

Well I should look at it in a positive manner. I am off work for a week. What is the cost/price? One, my roommates front bumper and two, my back. Tis friday and I was in an automobile accident. An old lady decided to jay walk in a highly congested traffic area. Off all the brakes that slammed, and all the tires that screeched, those that eminated from the truck I was driving are the the ones that resulted in a collision. The afternoon of the collision, I visited my Doctor and had Xrays taken. The rest of the evening was filled with phone calls to determine which insurance company is taking care of what. As I suspected the insurance on the vehicle I was driving foots the bill. With this aside for a moment in time, I turn my focus to the events of the weekend, my housewarming. It was a fun get together of family and friends. We Barbecued and had fun. Sunday I spent the day in Oklahoma city visiting with those I hadnt visited since long past. monday arrives, I drive to the doctors offic to go over xrays. No suprise! Bones are out of place and there is serious muscle damage. Therefore I get a week off from work and must endure a week of treatment. It will be somewhat of a vacation. At least I will be able to rest, and I hear there is massaging involved in this treatment.
